When I try to Open a PDF document in KIXZO I get an error message and then the document cannot be opened. I have ADOBE Reader 9 with an upgrade.

We have seen some errors with the version 9 upgrade of the reader. First try to uninstall the upgrade in the control panel. Then go into KIXZO and try to open a PDF document.  If you still can't open the PDF uninstall the reader and install the version 8.
